Cant cope...

Hello all

My names Derek, am 21 & life just keeps getting harder.

I have been dealing with severe depression for a few years now & medication does not seem to help at all.

Everything in life is becoming a chore & a struggle for me, to the extent of attempting suicide.

I was stopped by a couple of passing policemen, who dragged me away from my choice of action (to which i wont go into the graphic detail).

To what point is my life worth it?

I am the last living member of my family, i work the same job day in day out to then go home to nothing, i have nothing to stop me & noone to help me.

I cant afford the doctors bills or medication (not that the ones i have tried have helped) anymore because of the price of everything,it has to come last but i never have enough money to pursue the help.

I feel this is a vicious cycle & will never go away until i end.

I struggle to find the will & reason to not end it..

I am struggling to find a reason why not to end it all.....

I am so sorry you are struggling this much. It sounds like it is very difficult. Do you have any friends? Or interests? As well as meds and Drs and all of that when we are ill it really helps to have friends around us and hobbies to engage our brains. Keep posting and please dont give up.

Unfortunatly, because of unsocial hours of work i dnt have that many friends & the ones that i do i could never talk to on this kind of level, i also do have a few hobbies that of which all require funding to participate in, funding that i cannot get.

I came here because people seem to have experienced similar feelings & i spose im hoping i can get some tips on how to cope

I hope you get some help. One thing I have done is get involved with charities that work with service users doing stuff in my case music. You make friends who understand what you are going through, keep occupied and it is free. Might be worth a look?

Hi Derek,

Sorry to hear you're going through such a rough time alone. I lived away from all my family and friends for 4 years and it was the toughest time of my life.

Are there any 12 step groups in your area that could apply to you? There are 12 step groups for nearly everything and they are free to attend. Some of the best support and recovery I've encountered was from a 12 step group.
