Biting

Postby shotgun pulse » Thu Jun 30, 2011 9:42 am

I CANNOT stop biting, chewing, licking or touching with my fingers my cupid's bow (the little indent above your top lip), it's red and peeling, but then I really like the way the skin feels after eroding it so I keep doing it unconsciously.. Anyone else do this or have advice

Hi,

I never actually had this type of impulsion. However, I have had others. One method that you could try (with regard to counteracting it) is to replace the impulse... in your case - I dunno - you could concentrate on keeping your mouth closed and instead flick your tongue from side to side in your mouth or pressign it against your incisors on your upper or lower mandible/jaw.

Knowing the origin of the impulse is important too... it it stress?; or do you 'just' do it without even thinking?
