This is weird. I am in the happy position to say, that my family would never let this happen to me. Of course someone would have helped me a decade ago.

It is a sad thin hearing that account from you.

But I must also tell you, that it is not a good thing that you on your own haven't been able to organise and acquire someone who will borrow you a car and indeed help you with this.

In my opinion you probably need to be more focused and enforce this thing more militantly.

I drove my car on the ice this winter without bringing my tire ice chains. I really am a sociophobic. But this reminded me of how dependant you can become of other people. The next day I rang on a dozen doors in a small village, despite my phobia. And I spoke to maybe 20 strangers. By the way nobody had fitting chains and the weather/sun came to my aid after two days...

But be more focused, I guess? Go, ring 20 or 200 door bells, go on peoples nerves, until someone gives in and helps you with this.

I would be happy if you were my neighbour and would need my help and ask me.
