I've dug up an old thread here but I wonder whether it's right that people are so easy to label celebrities with this disorder. We don't know how celebrities act in private for one thing - could it not just be that they have some histrionic traits? I don't get why Christina Aguilera seems histrionic either.
Was Princess Diana seriously diagnosed HPD? I've never seen that in the British press before - could be the case though. All I know for a fact was that she had bulimia - I saw her admit that in a BBC interview at the time she was separated from Prince Charles. That could be down to another disorder though or indeed she may not even have had a personality disorder at all! From the little I know of HPD it doesn't seem like she acted in an HPD fashion in her relationship with him. It's not like she targeted him with abuse and then dropped him - as far as I know, their marriage mainly broke down due to her finding out (at an early stage) that he was still having his affair with Camilla. I think that when she married him as a young girl, she did hope they were going to live "happily ever after" (as it were) though. It's only after it broke down that she started seeing various men.
It's likely that most of these celebrities do have some kind of psychological problem but it also appears that sometimes people see a few suspect behaviours and jump to conclusions. In some cases could it not be that they might just have become conceited and egotistical due to their status in society? That can obviously cause "diva-like" problems on its own.
