Hi everyone!
Does anyone else experience what I call 'The Truman Show' Effect, Whereby you experience the sensation that your life is being followed by an audience and/or some onlooker?
For me it is not a negative feeling, or sence of fear or that I am threatened, and is rarely linked with my (fleeting) considerations that someone might have put cameras in my house, it is more a sensation that I must 'be at my best', or maintain 'the pretence' I have in front of others when I am alone; sometimes meaning I adopt slightly exaggerated or affected behaviours even when on my own.
I don't experience this all-day-every-day, it is more fleeting, lasting perhaps a few hours at a time.
Does this resonate with anyone? Is there an official psychological term for this sensation?
- Thanks!

PS: After posting the above I did a quick google and came across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truman_Show_delusion (I will admit I feel amused and 'rather clever' after noting I had coined the same name for this effect - grandiosity much?!)
In light of this I will add that for me it is not a delusion that this is really going on, it is just a sensation that I must 'keep acting', 'keep performing', 'keep the mask on'... Goodness I hope that means it is different! The last thing I want is to find out I've been falling into periods of psychosis!
