Mother won't allow me to get treatment.

Postby kayteekakes » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:49 am

My mother refuses to belief I have any type of problem. I don't know for sure what type of axiety I have but I know that when I have an attack its often triggered by stress or family issues but sometimes just walking into a large room at a concert venue will freak me out and I'll start to shake like a leaf and breathe really heavy. Alot of the time I pick my skin because it's the only thing that will calm me down. I have too many scars to count from doing this because I pick so deep into my skin that it cannot heal properly or quickly. I started to do the skin thing when I was 9 and I moved to Florida. Any time she sees me pick she slaps me. I want to know what I can do to help with this. Is there a treatment option with my mother ignoring all my crys for help.

Hey -

I'm assuming that you are a teen or young adult, and thus need your mother to help set up an appointment with a therapist or doctor. If this is the case, is there a possibility that you could seek help from a counselor in your school or college? They might be able to help get you contact with a therapy service, or perhaps be willing to help talk with your mother about it, thus showing it's more of a serious problem than she believes.

I'm sorry that you've been suffering with this anxiety all this time and not have had any proper support. You can keep posting and talking here if you need to as we can listen and support you. But it is important to try to get in touch with a professional, though.
