Staying in bed for hours

Postby Octopus » Thu Jan 29, 2015 2:33 pm

Hey
Am I the only person it happens to?
Every morning (noon actually) when I should have got out of bed hours before and I'm still in bed, I keep thinking about all the demanding things I will have to do in the hours left from the day. I will have to struggle with the need to study for the exams, I will have to get out of bed in the somewhat cold whether, and so on.
I'm think it's related to anxiety. It frightens me to know how much I still have to study in so many subjects. To know that I don't have much time and I have to hurry up and go to the college, to know that the exams are close and it is up to me to pass them, and so on.

So it keeps me in bed, trying to get just some more minutes (or hours) of peace. I don't even feel tired.
I never get up in the morning!!
Does this happen to you to? What can I do to stop this avoidance? My life is derailed.
Thanks so much :)

Wow, it feels like I'm reading something I wrote myself.

I do the exact same thing whenever I can, I think it helps to think for some minutes or even hours of the thing you'll do today, it helps being ready for the day.

I think it's ok to do that as long as you don't lose too much time and don't stay all day in your bed.

But if you think you really should get up, try to have something to do important every morning, like tell yourself you have to (if you have a dog) go out with him or eat, or take a shower, tell yourself you have to do it before (we'll say) noon so you can get up from your bed.

Or if you have to learn something for school or something like that, well... do it in your bed.

The thing is that I am losing a lot of time in bed.
I guess you're right, I need to have something that will make me "have to" get out of bed.
I will try to find something, but I don't think I'll find something that will scare me into studying. That's another problem.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and answer! I had to share

Well, for that other problem, you could set an alarm for it.
That's what I do, even if it still doesn't work, at least it makes me think about it...

Or put your books/copybooks next to the first thing you do when you're up, I put mine on my PC so I feel the need to do my homework etc before going on it.

And thanks to you for sharing, it helps me, other people and you, I hope.

Didn't think of setting an alarm. That's a great idea!
I've also read now that studying with friends can help, will try that too.
Thank you!! :)

Well, i feel this way.

Question is: How important you feel those things are?

Currently I'm trying to figure that out. Maybe I should get a degree later, maybe in something different. Who knows? I need to want to study in order to study. Since I began studying I didn't really want it.

I try to spend more time sleeping if I can, so I can shorten the day.
Its my way of limiting the amount of time I spend feeling the misery and emptiness of life.
I can't actually just lie in bed if I'm not sleeping. Its way too boring.
I also vary my sleep patterns, depending on how I feel and what I can find to do. So I can stay up until 2-3-4am and then also have 2-4 hour naps during daylight hours.
Things can become so boring too that it puts me to sleep.

Hi Everyone,

I am having a very similar problem last few days. It actually comes and goes every other month or so. I feel so extremely fatigued in the morning, I just can't make myself get up and face the day. Just can't move. But at night, I have the reverse problem, I can't get to sleep. I read, I surf the internet, I eat, anything to keep the next day at bay.
