Trigger warning *His voice has been really hoarse lately, with coughing. I'm worried it could be throat cancer.i really hope not. I love my dad dearly.

Me too. I've worked hard to get to this point in my recovery, and If something were to happen to him, i would crash and burn again.

The fact that he doesn't have a cough is actually a good sign that this isn't throat cancer. Also cancers in the larynx (voice box) are usually slow growing, so there's plenty of time time for consultation with a doctor.
Early signs of throat cancer (laryngeal cancer)
-changes to the voice, such as hoarseness
-difficulty or pain when swallowing
-a sore throat or feeling that something is stuck in the throat
-a cough that doesn’t go away
-an earache
-difficulty breathing or noisy breathing
-a lump or mass in the neck or throat
-coughing up of blood
-fatigue
-weight loss
Does he match any of these other symptoms?

well he said it was drainage, but he had been coughing a lot, and its been goin on he told me for 10 days. Maybe its nothing, but he should probably get it checked just to be sure.

Yeah, he should get checked out. Usually when symptoms last longer than a week or two it's best to see if it's bacteria or an infection. At least nothing is coming up from the cough. You can easily have them check for throat cancer too, though I doubt that's what it is unless you assumed that for reasons I don't know.

Oh, okay, it's very unlikely, especially if he doesn't match any of the other symptoms. My guess is it's something simple that can be cleared up by antiobiotics or time. I wouldn't worry about it
