Is it DD or another mental illness?

Postby Desperatehopeful » Thu Feb 04, 2010 1:39 am

How do you distinguish the difference between DD and say schizophrenia? I always thought that a person who's delusional is suffering from schizophrenia.

I quite like one line in one of the answers:

"A delusional person just believes his/her own sh*t and it is their way or the wrong way"

It is so simple yet so ture! :( :)

Pretty much... Schizophrenics HALLUCINATE instead of deluding themselves into some lie they made up and told themselves...
I've done both. The Schizo side is a lot more fun... Just saying.

From my personal exerience. My ex had "visions" of me cheating. One of the accusations was that he woke up in the middle of the night, and I "was not in bed". (There were other no-bizarre, but not ture, visions too). He also "remembered" events quite different than my recollection (false memory). He does fit DD's definition most of the time, which is that he functions well outside of his DDJ. So I think that it maybe sometimes difficult to clearly draw a line between DD and schizophrenia.

I can draw the line really easy.
