Risperdal

Postby calleluna » Sat Feb 04, 2012 3:02 pm

Hi,
I was wondering anyone's experience with Risperdal here? My pdoc had start it recently...a very low dose for anxiety and anger. It really does seem to take the edge off and I can function day to day without so much anxiety. He also said I can use more if I get really bad...like as needed. I'm also on Buspar...the doc says they can work well together. I just am nervous about long term use...he mentioned a possible side effect called Tardive dyskinnesia.. I do want to eventually get pregnant again and I can wean off....but I do also like functioning like normal..and not worrying about waking up and all the things that have to get done. Just wanted to know if it helps anyone else here for anxiety, anger, racing thoughts..thanks!!

Hi, calleluna, welcome to the forum! Maybe you could try a bit of counseling if you ever want to get off the meds, maybe they'd teach you how to deal with the anxiety. I hope you find the answers you need here, feel free to post in the medication forum too.

Hi Calleluna,

I was wondering how the Risperdal works for you and anger? I have never heard of it until your post here. Since cyclothymia is a mild form of bipolar, I am struggling with anger, moments of rage... especially around "day 14" of my menstrual cycle... thereʻs actually a name beyond PMS called premenstrual magnification whereby some of us with mood disorders... our symptoms are exacerbated! Iʻd like to talk to my pdoc about this one at my next visit : ) sorry Iʻm no help... you actually helped ME if it helps tame the beastie within!! tytyty!
