The sisterly bond

Permanent Linkby Hallusinating on Fri May 11, 2012 10:05 pm

For as long as i can remember i see the sisterly bond i had to all of my sisters. I grew up with 2 half siblings but i also had one biological sister who lived with our father(until she was 15 and moved in with our mother).

The bond to my half siblings were strong, i was the oldest and had to take care of them.
I watched as they grew and became independent young ladies. One of my sisters insisted always to wear a pink hearted summer dress every time she went out, even in the winter, so we had some discussions and she always won them, every day and got to wear the dress in winter and even if it wasn`t washed.

Holding her little hand when i crossed the road was my favourite task as a big sister.

It made me afraid of losing her and protective at the same time, also it enhanced my role as a big sister.

We grow into our roles in life and measure our selves up to all life`s challenges.

Soon my little sister was strong enough to go out into the world on her own, and now she is a mother and someone i no longer have a bond to because we have had conflicts in our family. But i will always remember what it felt like to be a big sister.
