I am so angry and disappointed in the Anglican church as a body I belong to. They voted against women bishops and I find this hugely insulting and bigoted of those who voted against. Some of the best vicars and spiritual leaders I have come across are women and my current vicar is a woman- and is a wonderful, professional, spiritual, helpful and kind person. How can it be bad for someone who has that skill set and the qualities that women bring aside from this to be a bishop? It infuriates me I had to listen to this twerp talking on the radio earlier about how women can't be trusted with spirituality. Well I would trust my spirituality far more to my current vicar than to a lot of male vicars I have known in the past. Perhaps the best thing would be for gender not to play a role at all but I think that is unrealistic. Instead we should be looking at the benefits being female bring to the table. It is a sad time for the church atm and I wonder if it is going to split. I have to say I hate the fact that I am represented by such pillocks at this time and if it did would seriously consider following the pro women group even if that meant leaving the Anglican church as we know it now. I cannot believe that in the 21st century women are having to fight such blatant sexism and bigotry.
