Blog Subject:  Calling All Missionary Kids

Are there any other MKs or similar out there? I would just like to know I am not the only one. Let me know if you are listening

I am the granddaughter of a preacher, the daughter of the church organ player, and an occasional missionary in and out of the country. I have also studied religion in a masters program. So, I'm not quite an MK, but have some connection to missions. I love to do mission work. Don't know if that changes your mind about me or not.

My grandma who raised me used to travel to Africa and other third world countries to do missionary work. She was very GUNG HO about religion, the Church of Christ.

While I admire her passion for it, she was a scary person to piss off. Out comes the stripped branches and belt buckles.

She is also the reason I have repeated nightmares of going to hell and feelings of worthlessness to our Lord.

Why do you ask?

Thanks Honey. I think that MKs have a lot of specific issues to dedal with like not being the most important person to their primary care giver, being neglected,, being vulnerable to abuse, having to adjust to different environments, the whole concept of sin etc. I think it is important their needs are addressed and I am trying to do that but sometimes feel like I am fighting a losing battle. Thanks for replying.
