Postby wolfparade » Sat May 15, 2010 8:40 pm

Hi guys im throwing a quick one out here does anyone get put into a manic mood after drinking coffee?

No...
But that may have something to do with the fact that in my mania I would go to a local coffee shop and drink crowbars all night...
Which is a quadshot of expresso with steamed half and half with chocolate...
I usaully told them to cut the half and half out...
So I would drink quadshots of expresso all night...
Like 7-10 of them...

So I think I'm immune to caffeine at this point...
Even energy drinks don't do a damn thing.

Actually, totally.
Every time I have any espresso drinks or even just strong coffee, I lose it, go totally nuts. Maybe we're jsut reading too far into it.

I respond differently to caffeine when hypo. It hits me hard when i am hypo, but when i am depressed or normal it only wakes me up. Yet, every morning I have a cup even though it tends to make the adrenaline rushes come on. Probably because of that, actually. haha

My bf DEFINITELY gets manic after coffee. Anxious/Hyper/Quick to anger.
He tries to avoid caffeine (he drinks a lot of energy drinks, organic energy shots etc.) but he's addicted to it. It replaces his love of alcohol (when he's on meds).

But also, I think this depends on how much caffeine you consume...

Same as keylimepie, when I'm hypo it feeds the buzz (in a nice way) but when I'm depressed or normal it does nothing :(
I could so use a buzz right now - really tempted to add some extra juice to my meds to flip into a hypo :?
but thats a seriously bad idea coz when I crash, I really crash

Luckily for me my pattern seems to be depression then hypo, although sometimes I wonder if I ever go into normal when not on meds. So, in that way its kind of better. I dont get a major post hypo crash. This past time it just faded away (I started meds) although I still have some symptoms, just not as bad.

Caffeine definitely isn't a trigger for mania for me.

But it certainly exacerbates the situation!

Hi,

New here but just wanted to say I also find caffeine makes me more hypo if I am hypo, but otherwise I can drink it by the bucketload without it touching me; I can even fall asleep! :)
