I'm just curious what kind of work do you find your selves doing?

I personally work as a mental health counselor at a Paychiatic Unit

I find that interesting. Im also in the mental health field, I always felt strong empathy with people, so it seemed natural. I also wanted to understand why people did things that I couldnt understand, specifically why my father didnt stop drinking, why my mother enabled it etc. Studying it helped me understand I wasnt going to get an answer. Now Ive just realised Ive ranted, sorry.

Anyway, Id be interested in hearing what work others are in, and how AvPD may affect it.

My official job title is 'console operator'. It makes it sound like i play xbox for a living.

It actually means I work in a petrol station though. I'm highly unmotivated and this job matches my lack of ambition.

I work as a software engineer. Picked this line of work due to talent/interest more than any mental health reasons -- although, I do have a fair amount of latitude to work from home and be a recluse at work. This has changed somewhat because I tend to be leading most projects I work on nowadays. However, I'm generally pretty confident in my work capabilities and so it's easier for me to interact with people on a professional level. (Although I never make small talk or anything like that with coworkers.)

I work nights in industrial maintenance or what some call a millwright. Great having a job were im in charge of myself at night. Having little people interaction is a must for me. I've always worked good by myself.

As you can see in my other thread I am an analytical chemist. Before that I worked in mental health running a cafe in a psych hospital. That job involved dealing with a lot of people. It was actually good at desensitizing me - but the bosses were horrible.

Web Developer. However I do work by myself 95% of the time, which is nice. But there are people at the office so :-/ And I haven't asked, but only the lead works from home time to time.

I am a computer programmer. I have worked at my job for a while, and rarely need to interact with people.
