a blood test for aspergers?

Postby foreverhopeful » Thu Sep 02, 2010 3:41 pm

i read the other day that apparently ppl with AS are short of a protien in the blood, so AS can be confirmed by a blood test? i ve never heard anything like this before and ive studdied the autism spectrum at university level, has anyone ever heard anything like this or is it garbage?
it d be great if it was true, how easy would that be for a diagnosis!

That oughta make the diagnosis easier . . . hehe.

:D
Question:
Why bother with difficult, expensive psy diagnosis whilst an easily identifiable marker exists?

Answer: There is no such unified marker.

1+1=2

All countries with NHS suffer from severe budget deficits. They're cutting corners where ever they can. Trust the beancounters, if there would be a way to cut out the cost of a psy, they'd implemented it.

In the netherlands for example they have an effective system for cutting costs, they have created artificial waiting lists for livesaving surgery. So people have the opportunity to die before getting treated. Every penny counts.

I was diagnosed with AS in August, and about a year ago I started having blood tests, with the family dcotor saying I had a severe deficiency in Bilirubin, which apparently indicates jaundice, although I do not have it. Not sure what this means in regards to AS.
