Thanks for the link, Emor. I briefly read through it and noticed that someone mentioned that the author who quoted me had come onto WP with his mind made up about it already. I really don't think that was the case. I get the feeling that he (the author) went there genuinely looking for help (as I had done before coming here to psychforums), but that he soon realised that it's filled with guys who simply don't have Asperger's. This isn't to say that I am sure that I have it either, but I have unofficial confirmation from my GP an therapist that I do.

Butterly, WrongPlanet is notorious as being a website for people with Asperger's Syndrome, but is actually just filled with 'normal' people (or 'neurotypicals' as we call them). THe weird thing is that I have spoken to the guy who runs that site before (Alex) and he's actually a nice guy. I think that he's just brought in a few bad administrators/moderators, and is too busy to even bother checking how the website is running.

Lock'd in true WP fashion ^_^.

I'm surprised the thread got to 3 pages before it was locked.

How many of you actually still use WP these days? How would yuo describe it in one sentence? By the way, I prefer to refer to it as WP, because otherwise people searching for 'it' might end up finding a link to here; and basically WP people just aren't my 'cup of tea'.

Read one thread on WP and didn't get the feeling they were Aspergers. Of course it might just have been weirdos posting in a non-Aspie thread but whatever. They seemed full of themselves :P

I am sometimes on the WP, but very little, so it seems OK for me right now, as I don't have much experience with people there. It seems OK, but I'll see what it really is.
If we've had no people with Asperger's, we would be losing a very important way of thinking that has helped many people.

Being Normal Is Vastly Overrated.

WP is a community comprised of mostly nice users, but the place has serious flaws. Like Chucky said, Alex (the owner) of the site comes off as being a nice person, but it would seem that he's made some awful choices in who he's decided to make staff there. I won't bother elaborating on that because there would be so much info that it would cause the PsychForums servers to fail. :P

When I used to frequent WP, I noticed that lots of the people there seemed to enjoy starting 'flame-wars'; they want to debate things to no end, until finally, someone would say something irrational and get banned. The disturbing thing is that people you thought liked you will often show up and start joining in with the name-calling, etc. towards you.

I've been staying away from forums like this because they do nothing but cause me to become depressed. After you get picked on by people long enough, you start becoming irrational yourself, which in turn will often cause you to get banned; most often, this is a relief.

PS. Another forum to avoid at all costs is AspiesForFreedom. It's just another clique flame-war zone.

I sometimes go on the chat rooms(I love chat rooms and to be honest I kind of find it funny the way some of the most random crap comes up in the chatroom[I remember having a 2-hour discussion about nuclear bombs and terrorism on there, LOL]).
Though a lot of the times it just seems like a giant debate. The first post I made there the only reply I got was someone correcting my spelling. It's like the more jargon you use and the more emotionally cold you are the more reputable you are...
I don't know. I met these two people on WP and I never talk to them any more. Actually, my friend ship with them ended pretty disastrous(as disastrous as online friend ships can I suppose).
The main problem I have with though is the whole, 'NTs suck' attitude. Several people in a thread I wrote admitted they either hated NTs, thought they were better than them or some other thing >_>.
(I don't do one-sentance summaries... LOL).

trg89, have you been picked on by anyone here? I appreciated you taking the time to write what you did, but if someone here has upset you, then please tell me about it. My perception of this forum is one of a peaceful place where there is very little animosity between users. I like to think that's because I quickly intervene in arguments and stop them progressing though! Also, if a thread is getting too long, I just lock it, because this allows newer/fresher threads to get more focus. I noticed that on WP there were many threads that have been running for very long times. That type of thing scares new users away, and sometimes new users cannot get a word in.

Ugh I don't like Alex. I had issues with him (which I won't discuss right now) and he doesn't like me because I am "sick and disgusting" and he demodded a mod there due to her medical condition. I asked her and she said it was true. But yet he lets me on his site and let me have a second account there after banning my other one. I behave myself now. Two years ago I was wild posting threads to drive him crazy because he made me mad and I wanted equal rights.

The guy who wrote the WP article, you can find him at zomgaspies.

I don't know if you need to be registered to view the thread but you can PM members there when you are registered.

I am not sure how I would describe WP in one sentence. There are lot of people there who post and there are jerks there but aren't they every where? The WP chat rooms are bad I hear. Filled with trolls. The mods don't really help you understand the rules if you violated one of them and they just ignore your questions. They're excuse is they aren't required to chat about the rules. To me that is being a poor mod. How do they expect people to follow rules if they won't help them understand them? How are people supposed to follow them if mods don't answer? I find it ironic they have the Adult board but won't allow talk there about diapers and bodily functions or farts or snot. But Alex's forum, his rules. I notice he has added that in his rules and I swear his rules have changed a little bit over the last three years. I got told he has added to the list. But for some reason when mods edit your post, it doesn't say at the bottom who it was edited by and what time. But when members do that with their own, it shows up at the bottom. I figure it's the same with Alex about his rules, it's not going to say when it was last edited by him. I have heard lot of bad things about WP and about the mods and Alex. The suicide threads and the NT bashing gets old. Same as the "Does (insert famous person here) have AS?" I sometimes like to take someone's post and turn "NTs" into "People" and write under the quote, "fixed." I do the same with titles. Also another thing that drives me crazy there is how they abuse the words executive dysfunction. Every time they talk about it, it's always about laziness. I don't even read threads about it because it makes me mad, it's so annoying. I think it has become a fancy term for lazy. I am one of the few there that admits to being lazy. No one won't ever see me saying I have ED just because I am unmotivated or am taking to long to start doing something because I can't get myself to do it, etc. I actually feel better when I admit the truth, same as when I'm stupid, I say I am. . So rare to find posts there that talk about real ED. I am sure some threads about it are genuinely about it but I just don't read them because I don't know if it's one of those fancy threads. See what happens when people abuse the word, people stop taking it seriously. Now I can't stand hearing it.

So that's more than one sentence.
I'm a Peach
I like the high ones
Hey cow girls, see the grass, don't eat it
There's no crying in baseball

Hi again Spokane Girl. Through that link, it says that The document 'WrongPlanet - is it really a good resource for people who have Asperger's?' has been deleted. i assume that was the document which referenced me? On the issue of a chat room, people frequently suggest that we get a chat room here, but I really thing that it's a bad idea, and the other admins do too. The admins/mods cannot be here all of the time, and it's just not something that we could feasibly monitor/control.
