How Do You Feel When Someone Tells You Something

If it's interesting I pay attention. If it's boring I don't. Probably like everyone else. The interesting stuff I feel uh. Interested. The boring stuff I feel bored. If it continues too long and I can't escape I start feeling angry.

If it's someone I have a vague interest in then I'll usually analyse it to see what the motivation is for telling me. Then I'll ask questions to find out more. People are fairly egotistical and will tell you stuff they wouldn't normally share if you express an interest.

If it's someone I find dull then I'll probably walk away mid-conversation.

Personal information = Yes, give me more. More to use against you someday.
Random information about their coffee trips = I don't give a f*ck.

It annoys me more often than not, but I try to be polite.

I was once working with a woman at some social event, we'd only met each other once before for about twenty minutes, she was nice enough, but during some downtime in-between presentations we were alone grabbing some tea and she decided to start telling me all about her relationship problems with her girlfriend. They were some fairly substantial relationship problems, honestly, but I was just standing there thinking, why on earth are you telling me? Why do you think telling an almost stranger is going to help you out?

People who know me well enough often confide in me because they know I'm tight-lipped and basically couldn't care less.

I know a lot of stuff. People tell me dirt about other people.

What am I to do with all this information? It means nothing to me.

If I find it at all interesting then I'd listen but if it's a stranger or someone I don't know well then I find this doesn't work out well because they take my listening to mean that they can tell me more and more and that I like them, when I don't. So I try to just make an excuse because it usually escalates which makes them harder to get rid of and/or makes them think I like them or makes them like me (people love it when someone listens to them because they take it to mean I'm not judging them and I accept them but it isn't actually like that). And it makes them think I'm more interested than I am. If it's someone i know and like then I'll probably by actually be interested and not mind and I'll listen.

One of two ways.

1. I don't give a ###$.

2. It's useful information and it can be valuable to me. I will then encourage them to tell me more.
