The kind of things that can cause a blackout when angry would be pretty intense, huh? Back in grade school, a guy was going crazy because he didn't want to watch the sex ed videos at the end of the year. He eventually threw up and passed out, but I think the outburst of anger and hurling could've been avoided if everyoen else watching the videos hadn't been making fun of him.

I've passed out once, and had some weird symptoms that lasted like 5 minutes before I couldn't mentally fight against them anymore. My vision narrowed, my hearing failed, I was sweating buckets, my legs gave way and I just collpased on the spot. It eventually turned out it was tonsillitis brought on by psychological stress somehow.

Gomez:

Your symptoms sound all too familiar. I don't experience them myself but my boyfriend does (he just doesn't realize it). My son woke us up at 2:00 in the morning to advise us that someone had let our dogs out of the front yard. I got out of bed to go put the gate back on the fence and my boyfriend was so angry that he went out back and opened the gate to the back dog lot. I asked him why he opened the gate and he said he didn't. It was pretty easy to prove my case as I have camera systems around my house and I replayed them showing him that he walked off the back porch, over to the gate, looked at the house (I guess to see if anyone was watching him), pulled the gate open, stepped back and walked into the house. There have been other incidents that I have questioned him on and he said he doesn't remember doing any of them. His son also has blackout fits (almost beating someone to death in school because the boy also bullied him) and he didn't recall any of the fight. He has also had other incidents where he doesn't remember doing the things he was told.

My boyfriend doesn't experience the violence (to me it is just more mischievous).

I don't know what causes this but I don't think a shrink is the person to diagnose this. I believe tests will have to be done by a brain specialist. Seems to me there is a missing link/gene in the brain.

I hope you find the solution and if and when you do, you share it with me.

I used to have rage blackouts a lot as a kid, it wasnt a complete blackout though, it was like i watched myself wreck things without being able to change what happens, these would happen like once a week, usually it was when nobody was around so i could punch things without hurting people, they slowly disappeared in time but ive noticed recently theyre on their way back, just as loud and violent and uncontrollable

actually just half an hour ago i thought i was gonna kill my brother, luckily i managed to force myself away while hitting everything on my path, the trigger to it was him whipping me with a towel rofl, we do fight a lot and so it wasnt a big deal, it just took me over the edge and i swung for him, he moved and i hit the door and computer and desk as i forced myself upstairs to my room

that may have had a more valid trigger to it but it happens without any trigger sometimes, i dunno what could cause it (i didnt have the happiest of childhoods, i was bullied in every school and college i went and even by my brother), i also avoided confrontation in school, the rare times i fought ended up with the other getting hurt or running away, i threw a guy over a table because he threw a piece of paper at me and i whipped the same guy and his friend once with a chain on my keys because they called me a name, pretty harsh punishments lol, my teacher made it worse by joking with them when i reported them for bullying which also made me rage out later at home when i thought about it :/

I don't have "black outs" but I do suffer from "blind" anger. At the moment I lose all control and feel quite helpless. I always remember what I have done, which is a good thing I suppose, but always feel guilty afterward. Therapy is helping, though. I am having a hard time coping with it when it begins and the only thing that I can do now is try to avoid situations that make me angry. Even the slightest frustration is a sign that I may lose control and for now I just exit the situation immediately.

Has anyone thought about dissociative identity disorder (DID?)

It sounds like your anger is NOT your fault nor in your hands.

I also wonder about seizures.

IMO I'd explore other things that haven't been thought of yet and don't give up. If you live in the US, have you ever had an intensive workup at a university hospital? I like university clinics/hospitals because they are usually on the cutting edge.

I've had situations like this I remember getting in afight and not realising I had hit the guy also in some situations yelling and cursing and having no idea what I've said. It's really frightening and its almost like someone else has control of you. I would like to add this hasn't happened in a long while. It does happen if I allow a situation to continue building then its like someone flips a switch and theres no off button
