Drinking too much again

Postby Agent Zero » Sun Jan 24, 2010 5:29 pm

I have been very bored these past few weeks and I have been drinking alot to compensate, it really helps eliminate the boredom factor. And yeah I know this isn't good... Now I have to throw out the booze again and try to find a project to fill my time(dam this cold weather). I start my new job this next week, hopefully that turns out to be a good job and a good time filler.

Hi, Agent Zero! How are you doing now? Yah, when dealing with some kind of addiction, you have to keep your mind off it.

I'm doing alot better now that i'm working again. I haven't drank anything since writing my original post, and now that i'm working again I haven't missed it. It's still too cold to do anything outside though.. Currently it's -16°F.

That's great! You can at least look out the window when it's snowing, I like it haha

There's about 8" on the ground right now, and the whole east coast seems closed because of it.... people around here don't know how to deal with the bad weather. Will probably be in the high 20s tonight.

Could use some advice. Not saying I will follow, but I want to hear from the other side of the coin... When you quit drinking, do you trade the activity for another? I've noticed that in the periods when I stop drinking, I trade it for exercising with a passion, or replace it with studying... do other people feel like it's a void that you have to fill?

It does feel like there is a void that needs to be filled. I use work to fill that void.

Do you think you could use anything else to help fill the void? A partner or friends could probably help.

Friends or partner probably would help, but I seem to lack the social skills for either. I am alone almost all the time, even when i'm with others i'm alone.

Maybe you could look for a partner on a dating site or something like that. People who don't have great social skills wouldn't necessarily make bad partners and you shouldn't have to be alone.

I have tried dating sites with no luck. It seems nobody wants to try dating somone like me, they always want somone stable, with good humor. Besides i'm terrafied about starting a relationship and then falling apart on them or flaking out. Why should I make somone else suffer like I do. Why would anyone else want to join the train wreck that is my life.
